Multijet Ampoule Washing Machine

Multijet Ampoule Washing Machine

A Multijet Ampoule Washing Machine is a semi-automatic, compact, and versatile piece of pharmaceutical equipment designed to clean glass ampoules and vials, ensuring compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) standards. It is widely used in small to medium-scale injectable manufacturing facilities for washing ampoules (1ml to 20ml) and glass vials (2ml to 100ml) with the help of interchangeable parts to accommodate different sizes.

Key Features:

  • Construction: Built with stainless steel (AISI 316L for contact parts and AISI 304 for non-contact parts) or FDA-approved materials like polycarbonate, HDPE, or PP, ensuring durability, corrosion resistance, and compliance with sterile processing requirements.

  • Washing Mechanism: Utilizes positive and pressurized jets through washing needles for thorough internal and external cleaning, minimizing the use of washing media (e.g., purified water, distilled water, or compressed air). The machine typically performs six washing cycles, which can include combinations of water and air washes, customizable based on user needs.

  • Operation: Features a mechanical motorized cam-operated valve system as standard, with optional timer-operated solenoid valves or microprocessor-controlled sequences for precise control. The washing cycle time is adjustable, and the process is managed via a PLC-based HMI touch screen control panel in advanced models.

  • Loading and Unloading: Ampoules or vials are loaded onto combi trays (made of cast nylon with varying hole counts, e.g., 53, 100, 189, 240, or 340, depending on container size). Trays can be loaded in bulk if received in ready-to-dump boxes or arranged manually. The tray is placed in the machine, and a handlebar ensures automatic centering of washing needles into the container mouths.

  • Safety and Visibility: Equipped with an acrylic top cover for clear observation of the washing process. The machine automatically stops if the cover is lifted during operation and resumes from the same point when closed, enhancing operator safety.

  • Efficiency: Capable of processing up to 30 trays per hour, depending on operator efficiency and loading speed, with a production capacity of 3,000 to 12,960 ampoules/vials per hour, depending on the model.

  • Additional Features:
    • A pressure tank ensures a continuous and reverse supply of washing media.

    • Includes an online polycarbonate housing with a replaceable 5 or 10-micron PP filter cartridge for optimal water purity.

    • Overload clutch to prevent jamming and optional pressure regulator with a pressure switch for enhanced control.

    • IQ/OQ documentation is available for validation purposes.

  • Applications: Ideal for pharmaceutical industries, research institutions, and pilot-scale production where sterile and clean containers are critical for injectable drugs.

Operation Process:

  1. Ampoules or vials are loaded onto a combi tray, either manually or via dump loading from pre-arranged boxes.

  2. The tray is inserted into the machine, and the handlebar is lowered to align washing needles with container openings.

  3. The acrylic cover is closed, and the washing cycle is initiated via a switch or HMI panel.

  4. Sequential washing (internal and external) occurs using pressurized jets, followed by a buzzer and red-light indication upon cycle completion.

  5. The tray is removed by reversing the loading procedure.

Multijet Ampoule Washing Machine is valued for its robust design, ease of operation (even by semi-skilled operators), and ability to deliver sterile, contaminant-free ampoules and vials, critical for pharmaceutical filling processes.

Process Operation of Ampoule Washing Machine

Ampoules are loaded in bulk onto combi tray if received in ready to dump boxes, which will have exactly same number of Ampoules and the pitch, as loading tray. Alternatively, each Ampoule/Vial has to be arranged into the tray individually. The loading tray is placed directly into the machine & the handlebar is lowered for automatic centering of washing needles into the Ampoules neck. The top cover is lowered & switch is operated for automatic sequential washing. Washing is performed from inside and outside of each individual Ampoule. Machine automatically stops after one complete washing cycle with buzzer sound and red-light indication. For removal of tray, reverse procedure is to be observed. Depending on loading & operator’s efficiency one can achieve 30 loading trays in an hour.
