Octagonal Blender

An Octagonal Blender is an efficient and versatile industrial mixing machine designed for the homogeneous blending and lubrication of dry granules and powders, particularly in pharmaceutical, food, chemical, cosmetic, nutraceutical, and related industries. Its octagonal-shaped container—featuring a rectangular central body with polygonal frustum ends and internal baffles—promotes tumbling motion that allows granules to flow from multiple directions, achieving uniform mixing at low RPM.

• Design and Capacity: The blender processes larger volumes while occupying less space than V-shaped or double cone blenders. It includes a dust-free bin or vacuum charging system, mirror-polished interior for easy cleaning, and a discharge butterfly valve. Capacities range from lab-scale to industrial.

• Mixing Process: Fill about two-thirds of the volume for optimal results. The low-speed rotation ensures minimal shear, making it ideal for crystalline or granular materials like those used in tablet granulation or lubrication. Blending time is typically 10–30 minutes, with safety features like interlocks and guards.

• Advantages: Lower power consumption, balanced operation even at high capacities, quick disassembly for maintenance, and suitability for free-flowing powders requiring low shearing force. It outperforms other blenders in homogeneity for certain materials due to the eight-sided geometry.

Applications

Primarily used for dry mixing in pharmaceuticals, but also in food processing, chemicals, ceramics, pesticides, and plastics. Contact parts are often SS 304/316 for hygiene and corrosion resistance, with options like flameproof motors or PLC controls.

Process Operation of Octagonal Shape Mixer

The Octagonal Blender is an efficient and versatile blending machine for mixing and lubrication process of dry granules homogeneously. Two third of the volume of the Cone Blender is filled to ensure proper mixing. The Octagonal Blender Machine gives best result for granules due to very slow speed and octagonal shape of container. It is uses in application of Pharmaceutical, Food, Chemical and Cosmetic products.

In Octagonal Blender the granules come from all sides due to the octagonal shape of the product container, hence requirement of blender RPM is less. Octagonal blender design suitable mainly for Crystalline & Granular type material. This type of material gets sufficient continuous movement due to their shape if container have only slow movement and will results in good quality of blending / lubrication of granules.
