An R&D Double Cone Blender also known as a Lab Double Cone Blender or Small Cone Blender is a compact, versatile mixing machine designed primarily for research and development (R&D) laboratories, pilot-scale testing, and small-batch production. Key Design and Working Principle

  • Structure: The blender consists of two cone-shaped sections welded at their bases to a central cylindrical body, forming a double-cone shape. This vessel rotates on a horizontal axis perpendicular to the cone’s axis, typically at low speeds via a worm reduction gear or variable frequency drive (VFD).

  • Mixing Mechanism:
    • Fill the vessel to 35-70% of its gross volume (ideally two-thirds) for optimal homogeneity.

    • As it rotates, materials cascade, fold, spread, and intermesh axially—dividing and recombining particles for uniform blending without excessive shear or heat generation.

    • This diffusion-based action is gentle on fragile or abrasive materials, preventing degradation.

  • Discharge and Charging: Features a butterfly valve at one end for easy discharge and a removable cover at the other for loading/cleaning. Some models include intensifier bars for de-agglomeration and safety guards like SS 304 railings.

  • Materials: All contact parts are stainless steel for corrosion resistance and GMP compliance. The interior is mirror-polished, exterior matt-polished.
