Multijet Vial Washing Machine

Multijet Vial Washing Machine

The Multijet Vial Washing Machine (also known as a Multijet Ampoule & Vial Washing Machine) is a specialized piece of pharmaceutical equipment designed for the efficient cleaning of glass vials and ampoules used in injectable drug manufacturing. It is a semi-automatic, compact, versatile, and reliable washing machine that complies with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) standards, ensuring high hygiene and minimal contamination risks in medium- and small-scale injectable production facilities.

Key Features

  • Construction and Design: Built with durable stainless steel (often SS 316L for contact parts) for corrosion resistance and easy maintenance. It includes an acrylic top cover for clear visibility of the washing process and safety interlocks that halt operations if the cover is lifted mid-cycle.

  • Capacity and Compatibility: Handles glass vials from 2 ml to 100 ml and ampoules from 1 ml to 20-25 ml, using interchangeable change parts.

  • Washing Mechanism: Features a timer-operated solenoid valve or mechanical cam-operated system for up to six sequential wash cycles in one operation. It uses pressurized jets from stainless steel needles for both internal and external cleaning, minimizing water and air usage while ensuring thorough removal of particles.

  • Controls: Equipped with a PLC-based HMI touch screen for precise timer control and cycle management. Optional microprocessor integration allows for customized sequences.

  • Filtration: Includes inline polycarbonate housing with 5- or 10-micron PP filter cartridges for purified water, enhancing wash quality.

  • Loading Options: Supports manual loading via trays or dump loading from ready-to-dump boxes for efficiency.

Operation Process

  1. Loading: Vials or ampoules are placed in perforated trays and inserted into the chamber. The handle lowers to align washing needles precisely into each vial’s mouth.

  2. Washing Cycle: Upon activation, the machine performs sequential washes—typically water jets for rinsing followed by air jets for drying—both internally and externally. Cycles are automated and can be observed through the transparent cover.

  3. Unloading: After completion, the machine stops automatically. Trays are removed, and washed items are ready for further processing (e.g., sterilization).

Working Principle of Semi-Automatic Vial Washing Machine

Ampoules are loaded in bulk onto combi tray if received in ready to dump boxes, which will have exactly same number of Ampoules and the pitch, as loading tray. Alternatively, each Ampoule/Vial has to be arranged into the tray individually. The loading tray is placed directly into the machine & the handlebar is lowered for automatic centering of washing needles into the Ampoules neck. The top cover is lowered & switch is operated for automatic sequential washing. Washing is performed from inside and outside of each individual Ampoule. Machine automatically stops after one complete washing cycle with buzzer sound and red-light indication. For removal of tray, reverse procedure is to be observed. Depending on loading & operator’s efficiency one can achieve 30 loading trays in an hour.
