Working Principle of Octagonal Blender

The Octagonal Blender is an efficient and versatile blending machine for mixing and lubrication process of dry granules homogeneously. Two third of the volume of the Cone Blender is filled to ensure proper mixing. The Octagonal Blender Machine gives best result for granules due to very slow speed and octagonal shape of container. It is uses in application of Pharmaceutical, Food, Chemical and Cosmetic products. In Octagonal Blender the granules come from all sides due to the octagonal shape of the product container, hence requirement of blender RPM is less. Octagonal blender design suitable mainly for Crystalline & Granular type material. This type of material gets sufficient continuous movement due to their shape if container have only slow movement and will results in good quality of blending / lubrication of granules.

It includes a dust-free bin or vacuum charging system, mirror-polished interior for easy cleaning, and a discharge butterfly valve. Capacities range from lab-scale to industrial.

 

  • Mixing Process: Fill about two-thirds of the volume for optimal results. The low-speed rotation ensures minimal shear, making it ideal for crystalline or granular materials like those used in tablet granulation or lubrication. Blending time is typically 10–30 minutes, with safety features like interlocks and guards.

The blender operates on the principle of slow-speed tumbling. Material is loaded into the octagonal vessel (typically filled to 2/3 of its volume). As the drum rotates at low RPM on a horizontal axis, the material repeatedly cascades and tumbles from the corners, achieving uniform mixing. Internal baffles (removable) enhance the mixing process. Blending time is usually short due to the efficient geometry.
