An Extruding Discharge Sigma Blade Mixer (also known as a Sigma Kneader Extruder, Z-Blade Mixer with Extrusion Discharge, Double Arm Kneader Extruder, or Sigma Mixer Extruder) is a heavy-duty industrial machine engineered for mixing, kneading, and dispersing extremely high-viscosity and sticky materials.
This advanced sigma blade mixer features two counter-rotating sigma-shaped (Z-shaped) blades in a U- or W-shaped trough, delivering powerful shearing, folding, stretching, and homogenization. The standout feature of the extruding discharge variant is its integrated bottom-mounted extrusion screw, which performs two critical functions:
During mixing: Rotates in reverse to continuously feed material back into the blades, enhancing kneading efficiency and preventing material settling.
During discharge: Reverses direction to push the finished mix out through a die, forming it into strips, pellets, sheets, or other shapes for easier downstream processing.
This kneader extruder design is especially effective for processing silicone rubber, sealants, hot melt adhesives, butyl rubber, chewing gum bases, putties, and other thick, sticky compounds that are difficult to handle with standard mixers.
Ideal for industries requiring high-viscosity material processing, the extruding discharge sigma mixer improves productivity, ensures uniform quality, and simplifies material discharge and forming.

Compared to standard discharge methods:
It is a heavy-duty industrial sigma (Z-blade) kneader-extruder designed for mixing, kneading, and dispersing extremely high-viscosity and sticky materials such as silicone rubber, sealants, hot-melt adhesives, butyl rubber, chewing gum bases, and putties. Its defining feature is an integrated bottom-mounted extrusion screw that aids both mixing and product discharge.
During mixing the extrusion screw rotates in reverse, continuously feeding material back into the sigma blades to improve kneading efficiency and prevent settling. For discharge, the screw reverses direction and pushes the finished mix out through a die, forming it into strips, pellets, sheets, or other shapes for easier downstream handling.
The mixer is offered in Stainless Steel 316, Stainless Steel 304, or Mild Steel. Stainless-steel versions can be finished in matt or mirror polish; mild-steel units receive one coat of red oxide primer plus two coats of epoxy paint.
Models range from ASM-50 (approx. 50 L working / 80 L gross) to ASM-3000 (approx. 3000 L working / 3800 L gross). Motor power is available in general and heavy-duty ratings, and voltage can be customized to local requirements.
Two counter-rotating Z-shaped (sigma) blades mounted in a U- or W-shaped trough rotate toward each other at different speeds. This produces powerful shearing, folding, stretching, dividing, and recombining action that delivers thorough homogenization of thick, sticky compounds.
Yes. A jacket for heating or cooling can be fitted, complete with mineral-wool insulation and cladding. An optional blade-cooling arrangement provides additional temperature management.
Tangential blades meet at the edges, typically rotate at different speeds (often a 3:2 ratio), and are preferred for higher-viscosity materials such as silicone rubber and adhesives. Overlapping blades rotate at the same speed, suit lower-viscosity materials, offer faster material interchange, and produce less intensive kneading and shearing.
Options include a liquid spray system, vacuum system, blade-cooling arrangement, screw system (integral to the extruding discharge design), and automatic valve discharge system.
Sticky, high-viscosity compounds are difficult to empty from conventional mixers. The integrated extrusion screw enables efficient discharge while simultaneously forming the product into usable shapes (strips, pellets, sheets), improving productivity and simplifying downstream processing.
Key features include tangential Z-blades for uniform mixing, choice of SS 316 / SS 304 / mild steel construction with appropriate finishes, optional heating/cooling jacket with insulation, PTFE shaft sealing, minimal blade-to-trough clearance to reduce sticking, and the integrated extruding screw system for enhanced mixing and formed discharge.
