Semi-Automatic Capsule Counter Machine (also known as a semi-automatic capsule/tablet counting machine or pill counter) is a compact, tabletop or small-scale packaging equipment widely used in pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, herbal, ayurvedic, food supplement, and small production industries. It accurately counts and fills hard gelatin capsules, softgel capsules, tablets, pills, or similar solid products into bottles, jars, containers, or pouches with high precision and minimal manual effort. It automates the tedious manual counting process for small to medium batches, ensuring consistent fill quantities (e.g., 30, 60, or 100 capsules per bottle) while reducing errors, improving hygiene, and boosting efficiency compared to hand-counting.

ADJUSTABLE FILLER:

The filler can be elevated from 20 to 35 degrees to facilitate entry of every product into the disc holes. All contact parts are fabricated out of stainless steel.

GEAR BOX AND DRIVE:

Heavy duty Gear box 50:1 ratio connected to 0.5 H.P. 440 volts, 3 phase motor 1440 RPM with variable speed drive. The RPM of the disc varies from 3 to 7 depending upon the product.

DELIVERY CHUTES:

Delivery chutes direct the product from the counting disc into telescoping stainless-steel filler tubes of various sizes. For accurate filling, tubes and adaptors of various sizes are supplied to suit different containers. Special delivery chutes will be supplied for counting and filling capsules in narrow mouth container such as vials.

LARGE COUNTING DISCS:

Suitable diameter disc gives optimum capacity. Each disc is custom designed and manufactured to meet your individual filling requirements. Machine is versatile enough to count coated/uncoated tablets, hard or soft gelatin capsules of any shape and size such as pearls, oblong and round capsules.

Working Principle of Semi Automatic Capsule Counter Machine

Product is feed on a rotating disc and is channel in guided opening as per the shape and size of the product for counting & filling. As per the count set in the counting MMI unit no. of count is maintained and released by pneumatic closer for the counting and filling operation. Product Containers/Pouches are kept manually at the release end to fill the counted product.

The machine combines vibration feeding, mechanical alignment, and electronic/optical counting:

Loading — Capsules or tablets are manually poured into a hopper (feeding tank, often 5–10 liters or more).

Vibration & Alignment — A vibratory feeder (electromagnetic or rotary) gently shakes and separates the capsules, guiding them into single-file channels, tracks, rails, or perforated/rotary discs/slots. This prevents jamming and ensures even flow.

Counting — As capsules pass through designated paths:
- Photoelectric/infrared/optical sensors detect each piece individually (non-contact, high accuracy).
- Some models use rotary disc holes or channels where items drop one by one.
- The digital control panel tracks the count.

Filling — When the preset number (e.g., 1–9999 pieces) is reached, the counted batch is released through one or dual nozzles/chutes directly into a bottle placed below by the operator.

Operator Role — Semi-automatic means the operator manually loads the hopper, places/removes bottles under the nozzle(s), and starts/stops cycles. The counting and dispensing are automatic.
