

The Sealing Compounds Sigma Mixer, also referred to as a Sigma Kneader, Z-Blade Mixer, or Double Arm Mixer, is a strong industrial mixing machine designed specifically for mixing, kneading, and blending highly viscous, sticky, and paste-like materials commonly used in the production of sealing compounds.
This durable sigma blade mixer includes two counter-rotating Sigma-shaped (Z-shaped) blades that move within a W-shaped trough. These blades generate strong shearing, folding, stretching, and compression forces, ensuring complete mixing and even blending of thick, high-viscosity substances.
Ideal for making sealing compounds, adhesives, silicone sealants, polyurethane sealants, gaskets, and other thick materials, the Sealing Compounds Sigma Mixer provides excellent uniformity while reducing mixing time and enhancing the quality of the final product.
Sealing compounds (such as silicone sealants, butyl rubber-based sealants, acrylic sealants, or epoxy-based compounds) are thick, non-flowing pastes that require intensive mixing to incorporate fillers, pigments, accelerators, and ensure homogeneity without air entrapment. The Sigma Mixer’s high-shear kneading action excels at this, producing consistent, bubble-free batches suitable for caulks, gaskets, glazing, pipe joint compounds, and industrial sealants.

It is a heavy-duty industrial mixer (also known as a Sigma Kneader, Z-Blade Mixer, or Double Arm Mixer) designed specifically for mixing, kneading, and blending highly viscous, sticky, and paste-like materials used in sealing compounds, adhesives, silicone and polyurethane sealants, gaskets, and similar products. Its two counter-rotating Sigma-shaped (Z-shaped) blades operating in a W-shaped trough create strong shearing, folding, stretching, and compression forces for complete, uniform mixing.
The tangential ‘Z’-shaped blades rotate toward each other at different speeds (typically a 3:2 ratio, with the front blade faster), transferring material from one end of the trough to the other. This produces bulk movement, stretching, folding, dividing, and recombining, while shearing and tearing against the blades and side walls reduce solid particle size and ensure even blending.
The mixer is offered in Stainless Steel 316, Stainless Steel 304, or Mild Steel. Stainless steel versions can be polished to a matt or mirror finish as required, while mild steel units receive one coat of red oxide followed by two coats of epoxy paint.
Models range from ASM-50 (approx. 50 L working / 80 L gross capacity with 5 HP general or 7.5 HP heavy-duty motors) up to ASM-3000 (approx. 3000 L working / 3800 L gross capacity with 100 HP general or 120 HP heavy-duty motors). Power voltage can be adjusted to match local requirements.
Discharge options include hand-wheel (manual) or hydraulic (automatic) tilting of the container, bottom valves, or an extrusion screw beside the container—suitable for handling thick, sticky materials.
Yes. A jacket for heating or cooling can be fitted, complete with mineral wool insulation and cladding. Optional blade cooling arrangements are also available for temperature-sensitive formulations.
PTFE shaft sealing is provided for food-grade compatibility. A minimum gap between the trough inner shell and the blades helps prevent product sticking, supporting hygienic operation.
In the tangential design (preferred for higher-viscosity materials such as adhesives, rubber compounds, dyes, and pigments), blades meet tangentially and usually run at a 3:2 speed ratio. In the overlapping design (suited to lighter viscosities such as creams, ointments, and carbon pastes), blades overlap and rotate at the same speed for faster material interchange with lower kneading/shearing action.
It is used in the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, herbal, Ayurvedic, biotech, cosmetic, and chemical industries for high-viscosity pastes, plastics, rubber compounds, adhesives, sealants, composites, dyes, pigments, creams, ointments, and similar materials.
Available options include a liquid spray system, vacuum system (for degassing), screw system for continuous discharge, blades cooling arrangement, and automatic valve discharge system—helping improve process control and handling of extremely thick materials.
