Its dual counter-rotating sigma-shaped (Z) blades provide intensive kneading, folding, and shearing to ensure uniform dispersion and high homogeneity (up to 99%) that standard mixers cannot achieve.
The mixer offers tangential (Z-blades running parallel at differential speeds, ideal for high-viscosity adhesives, rubber compounds, and pigments for strong kneading/shearing) and overlapping/intermeshing designs (blades that mesh for gentler action on lighter viscosities). Tangential configuration is typically preferred for adhesives due to superior shear and material transfer.
Models range from lab/pilot scale (ASM-50: 50L working / 80L gross) up to large production (ASM-3000: 3000L working / 3800L gross). Motor options vary from 5–7.5 HP (general) to higher heavy-duty ratings, with power voltage customizable to local requirements. Fill volumes are typically 40-65% of trough capacity.
The mixing trough includes an optional jacket for heating (steam, hot oil, hot water, or electric) or cooling (chilled water), with mineral wool insulation and cladding for efficiency. Optional cored blades provide additional temperature control, which is essential for melting hot melt adhesives or protecting heat-sensitive ingredients.
