It is a heavy-duty industrial mixer designed for high-viscosity, sticky, and dough-like materials such as stiff pastes, adhesives, sealants, hot-melt adhesives, rubber compounds, putties, mastics, and similar viscous formulations that conventional agitators cannot handle effectively.
It uses two counter-rotating sigma-shaped (or Z-shaped) blades that intermesh inside a trough. These blades create continuous folding, shearing, stretching, and kneading action, with differential speeds (typically a 3:2 ratio in tangential designs) that move material from one side of the trough to the other for thorough homogenization.
The machine is engineered for extremely high viscosities, capable of handling materials up to 10 million centipoises (cps), far beyond the limits of standard planetary mixers, ribbon blenders, or high-shear mixers.
The kneader is fabricated from heavy-duty Mild Steel (MS), SS 304, or SS 316. Surfaces can be finished in matte or high-gloss mirror polish. Mild steel units receive an anti-corrosive red oxide primer plus a two-layer epoxy coating. PTFE shaft seals support sanitary and food-grade applications.
Optional jackets allow external heating or cooling (via steam, hot oil, or water). The jackets are insulated with high-density mineral wool and protected by sheet-metal cladding to maintain precise process temperatures for temperature-sensitive formulations.
Discharge options include manual hand-wheel tilting, automated hydraulic tilting, bottom-mounted drainage valves, or a lateral extrusion screw. Hydraulic systems can reverse blade rotation to ensure complete emptying of sticky products.
Tangential blades (different speeds, typically 3:2) deliver high shear for very viscous materials such as adhesives and rubber compounds. Overlapping blades (identical speeds) provide milder kneading and faster cross-transfer, better suited to lower-viscosity products like creams, ointments, carbon pastes, and clay slurries.
Models range from ASM-50 (50 L working / 80 L gross, 5–7.5 HP) up to ASM-3000 (3000 L working / 3800 L gross, 100–120 HP). Both general-duty and heavy-duty motor options are listed, with power voltage customizable to local requirements.
It is applied across the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, herbal, Ayurvedic, biotech, cosmetic, and chemical industries for processing high-viscosity pastes, compounds, and formulations that demand uniform dispersion and consistent quality.
Available options include vacuum systems for de-aeration or solvent recovery, fluid spray mechanisms, variable-speed drives, PLC automation, explosion-proof motors for flammable solvents, hydraulic tilting, and modular vacuum/pressure setups. Close blade-to-trough clearance minimizes product retention, while heavy-duty construction ensures durability and hygiene.
