An SS 316 Filter Press (Stainless Steel 316 filter press) is state-of-the-art industrial solid-liquid separation equipment engineered primarily from AISI 316 or 316L grade austenitic stainless steel. Designed to master the most challenging filtration demands, this alloy features a precise chemical composition typically containing 16-18% chromium, 10-14% nickel, and 2-3% molybdenum. The addition of molybdenum is critical, providing exceptional resistance to localized corrosion, aggressive chemicals, high-concentration chlorides, and harsh acids that standard SS 304 variants cannot withstand.
Operational Excellence and Performance Metrics
An industrial-grade SS 316L plate and frame filter press operates under high-pressure parameters, routinely forcing liquid slurries through specialized filter cloths to build a dense, manageable filter cake. Key performance metrics include:
By integrating an advanced SS 316 filter press into modern processing lines, plant engineers ensure long-term durability, regulatory compliance, and maximum operational throughput.
The machine receives the liquid into its filter under positive pressure, forcing the fluid downward through openings located on the sides of the filter plates. While the filter media traps foreign particles, it allows only the clean filtrate to pass into a central channel formed by interlocking pressure cups connected to the outlet. This filtration process continues until the cake holding capacity is completely saturated or the filtrate flow rate drops significantly due to declining cake resistance.
Our expertly engineered filter press delivers exceptional cost-effectiveness and dependable performance, ensuring that not a single drop of liquid goes to waste.

An SS 316 Filter Press is a high-performance industrial solid-liquid separation system constructed primarily from AISI 316 or 316L stainless steel. It is designed to handle demanding filtration applications involving aggressive chemicals, high-concentration chlorides, and harsh acids that standard SS 304 equipment cannot withstand.
SS 316 contains 2–3% molybdenum in addition to chromium and nickel. This molybdenum content provides superior resistance to localized corrosion, pitting, and attack from chlorides and aggressive chemicals, making it ideal for pharmaceutical, chemical, and corrosive process environments.
The liquid slurry is pumped under positive pressure into the filter. The fluid is forced through openings in the filter plates, where the filter media traps solid particles and allows only the clean filtrate to pass into a central channel connected to the outlet. Filtration continues until the cake-holding capacity is reached or the flow rate drops significantly.
Key features include easy servicing by lifting only the cover (instead of removing the entire cartridge), compliance with industry standards, options for centrifugal/gear/lobe pumps, pressure gauge, safety valve and air vent, crystal-clear filtration, high-polish finish on contact parts, and minimal unfiltered slurry hold-up for higher output.
All product-contact parts are manufactured from high-grade SS 304, SS 316, or SS 316L stainless steel with a high-polish finish to ensure hygiene, corrosion resistance, and smooth product flow.
Major advantages include excellent corrosion resistance, hygienic and sanitary design, high temperature and pressure tolerance, superior performance compared to polypropylene or cast-iron presses, high solids capture efficiency (often exceeding 99%), and reduced downstream drying or disposal costs.
It is widely applied in the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, herbal, Ayurvedic, biotech, cosmetic, and chemical industries for solid-liquid separation processes.
It delivers high solids capture efficiency (frequently over 99% fine particle retention), energy-efficient intermittent operation, optimal moisture reduction in the filter cake, and minimal liquid waste, ensuring cost-effective and reliable filtration.
Yes. The filter press is available in various plate diameters (8″, 14″, 18″, 24″), number of plates, filtering areas, cake-holding capacities, and motor sizes (ranging from 1 HP to 5 HP) to match different output requirements (from 250 LPH to over 21,000 LPH).
Yes. The design allows servicing by simply lifting the cover rather than dismantling the entire cartridge. The high-polish stainless steel surfaces and hygienic construction make cleaning straightforward and support sanitary operations.
