Unlike conventional mixers, the intense mechanical forces generated by the Z-blade mixer effectively break down agglomerates, distribute binders uniformly, and achieve consistent dispersion of abrasive particles throughout the mix.

It uses two counter-rotating Z-shaped (sigma) blades in a U-shaped or W-shaped trough. The blades create powerful shearing, folding, and kneading actions that displace material completely, break down agglomerates, distribute binders uniformly, and disperse abrasive particles. Discharge is typically done by tilting the container, bottom valves, or an extrusion screw.
The mixer is available in Stainless Steel 316, Stainless Steel 304, and Mild Steel. Stainless steel versions can be finished in matt or mirror polish as per requirements, while mild steel models receive one coat of red oxide and two coats of epoxy paint.
Models range from ASM-50 (approx. 50 liters working / 80 liters gross capacity) to ASM-3000 (approx. 3000 liters working / 3800 liters gross capacity). Motor power varies by model and duty rating (general or heavy-duty), and voltage can be adjusted to local requirements.
Discharge can be manual (hand-wheel operated) or automatic (hydraulic operated). Additional options include an automatic valve discharge system or a screw (extruder) system for controlled product removal.
Yes. A jacket for heating or cooling applications can be provided, along with mineral wool insulation and cladding. Optional blade cooling arrangements help manage heat buildup during mixing of viscous abrasive compounds.
In the tangential design (preferred for higher-viscosity materials like grinding wheel compounds), blades meet tangentially and usually rotate at different speeds (often a 3:2 ratio). Overlapping blades rotate at the same speed, suit lighter-viscosity materials, and provide faster material interchange but lower kneading and shearing action.
Key features include tangential Z-blades for uniform mixing, PTFE shaft sealing, a minimum gap between the trough inner shell and blades (to reduce sticking), and heavy-duty construction with wear-resistant materials to handle abrasive formulations.
