It is a heavy-duty industrial machine (also called a Double Arm Sigma Mixer, Z-Blade Kneader, or Sigma Blade Mixer) designed for mixing, kneading, and homogenizing high-viscosity materials. In soap manufacturing it thoroughly blends oils, fats, alkali, surfactants, fragrances, colors, and additives to produce consistent toilet soap, laundry soap, transparent soap, or specialty artisan bars without lumps or separation.
Twin ‘Z’-shaped (Sigma) kneading blades rotate at differential speeds toward each other. This creates continuous side-to-side material transfer through bulk displacement, stretching, folding, dividing, and recombining, while intense friction and shearing between the blades and trough walls break down particles for uniform homogeneity.
The mixer is built from Mild Steel or Stainless Steel (SS 304 / SS 316). Stainless-steel surfaces can receive a mirror or matt finish. Mild-steel parts are protected with a red-oxide primer plus dual-layer epoxy coating. Food-grade PTFE shaft seals help maintain hygiene and prevent contamination.
Models range from ASM-50 (approx. 50 L working / 80 L gross) to ASM-3000 (approx. 3000 L working / 3800 L gross). Motor power varies by model and duty (general or heavy-duty) from 5 HP up to 120 HP. Power voltage can be customized to local requirements.
Optional heating or cooling jackets manage process temperatures. The jackets are insulated with mineral wool and protected by exterior cladding. After the heating phase, the system can automatically switch to cooling with a pneumatic exhaust damper opening.
Processed material can be unloaded by tilting the mixing trough (manual hand-wheel or automated hydraulic), using bottom discharge valves, or employing an integrated extrusion screw alongside the container. Automatic valve discharge is also available as an option.
Tangential blades meet at the edges and typically run at a 3:2 speed ratio, delivering intensive kneading and shearing ideal for high-viscosity materials. Overlapping blades rotate at matched speeds and intersect above the central saddle, providing faster interchange and gentler action suited to freer-flowing materials.
Standard mixers often fail with thick, sticky soap masses. The Sigma Double Arm Kneader provides intensive shearing, uniform dispersion, precise temperature control, and minimal clearance between blades and trough walls, eliminating product accumulation and ensuring consistent quality.
Available options include integrated spray systems, vacuum capabilities (to remove air and volatiles), blade cooling arrangements, screw extruder systems, variable-speed drives, and PLC automation for optimized, repeatable mixing cycles.
While optimized for soap production, it is also applied in the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, herbal, Ayurvedic, biotech, cosmetic, and chemical industries for handling high-viscosity, pasty, or semi-solid materials that require intensive kneading and dispersion.
