How Does an Industrial EO Gas Sterilizer Work?
The process occurs in a sealed chamber and involves four main phases, lasting 3–12 hours per cycle depending on load size and material:

Preconditioning/Humidification: Items are preconditioned (heated/humidified) to optimize EO penetration. Air is removed via vacuum.

Gas Exposure/Sterilization: EO gas is injected at low temperatures (25–55°C) and low pressure. Exposure time: 1–6 hours.

Evacuation: Vacuum and inert gas flushes remove EO.

Aeration/De-gassing: Heated air circulates to break down and vent residual EO, often in a separate chamber, until levels drop below 1 ppm for safety.
Advanced systems use microdoses and recirculation for efficiency, reducing gas use by up to 90% compared to older methods.
