Glass Vial Washer is a specialized pharmaceutical machine designed to clean and decontaminate small cylindrical glass containers (vials) used for storing injectable liquids, vaccines, or other sterile products. Vial Washer ensure the removal of particulates, residues, and contaminants from the interior and exterior surfaces of vials. They are essential in pharmaceutical, biotech, and injectable drug production lines to prevent cross-contamination and ensure product safety.

Working Principle of Glass Vial Washer

Vials pushed from in feed tray and then move on wire woven conveyor belt, which align the vial in correct position, to enter in to the carrier pocket with help of oscillating guide rails. Oscillating arm deliver the vial inside pocket in mouth down position over spraying nozzles. Multijet sprayers fixed at the top cause the total external and internal surface to be washed. To avoid any possible cross contamination between two different waters, each washing station is provided with an independent circuit. Carrier pocket is moving with indexing motion. When the baskets have completed their motion the needles are lifted. They penetrate the vials, spraying jets of water or compressed air then return down. The baskets movement then advances by one station. Each station of vials passes through the washing cycles selected. The duly washed vials then delivered to the out feed tray with neck opening upward and then automatically re ordered to sterilizing tunnel with back pressure.

  • Washing Process: Vials are typically inverted or transported through stations where high-pressure jets of purified water, detergents, or sterile air flush the interiors and exteriors. Multi-stage cycles often include pre-washing, soaking, detergent jetting, rinsing, and drying with filtered air or steam. Nozzles penetrate the vial necks without contact to avoid recontamination.

 

  • Construction: Made from stainless steel for corrosion resistance, with optional acrylic doors, PLC/HMI controls for automation, and safety features like pneumatic components and coded access for wash cycles.

The machine is available in two standard models:

  • AVRW 120: Up to 100 vials per minute
  • AVRW 240: Up to 200 vials per minute

These models are suitable for medium to high-volume sterile injectable production lines.

It can process 2 ml to 100 ml glass and plastic vials. The machine features a special pocket system that allows flexible handling of different sizes without any change parts, enabling quick and easy format changeovers with minimal downtime.

It performs 6 standard washing cycles with independent circuits to prevent cross-contamination:

  • All product contact parts are made from AISI SS 316L stainless steel.
  • Robust structure in SS 304, with HDPE vial pockets, wire-woven infeed belt, and indexing motion for precise cleaning.
  • Features include PLC with HMI and printing facility, variable frequency drives, a special clutch for safety, no glass-to-glass contact, low water/air consumption, and easy integration with sterilizing tunnels and filling lines.
  • Optional accessories: Third tank & pump, safety cabinet, and siliconization.
