Multijet Vial Washer

Description

Multijet Vial Washer, also known as a Vial Jet Washer or Multijet Ampoule & Vial Washing Machine, is a semi-automatic, compact, versatile, and reliable pharmaceutical washing machine designed primarily for cleaning glass vials and ampoules used in injectable formulations. It complies with cGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practice) standards and is widely used in small- to medium-scale injectable production facilities, R&D labs, and pilot-scale operations.

  • Positive and pressurized jets for efficient pressure cleaning with minimal media usage.

  • Low maintenance, easy-to-clean design.

  • Suitable for round-shaped vials; eliminates particles from previously filled/sealed vials.

  • Optional microprocessor-controlled timers for customized sequences.

Working Principle of Multijet Vial Washer

Ampoules are loaded in bulk onto combi tray if received in ready to dump boxes, which will have exactly same number of Ampoules and the pitch, as loading tray. Alternatively, each Ampoule/Vial has to be arranged into the tray individually. The loading tray is placed directly into the machine & the handlebar is lowered for automatic centering of washing needles into the Ampoules neck. The top cover is lowered & switch is operated for automatic sequential washing. Washing is performed from inside and outside of each individual Ampoule. Machine automatically stops after one complete washing cycle with buzzer sound and red-light indication. For removal of tray, reverse procedure is to be observed. Depending on loading & operator’s efficiency one can achieve 30 loading trays in an hour.

Key Features of Multijet Vial Washer

  • Construction and Materials: Built with stainless steel for durability and hygiene. All contact parts are made from FDA-approved materials to ensure safety and compliance.

  • Capacity and Compatibility: Handles glass vials from 2 ml to 100 ml and ampoules from 1 ml to 20 ml (up to 25 ml in some models). Adaptability is achieved through interchangeable change parts, such as combi trays made from cast nylon with varying hole configurations to match vial/ampoule diameters.

  • Washing Mechanism: Features a multi-jet system with pressurized water jets delivered through stainless steel needles for internal cleaning. It performs up to six sequential washing cycles in one operation, including pre-washing, internal washing, external rinsing, and air drying. The system uses a timer-operated solenoid valve or mechanical motorized cam for precise control, minimizing water and air usage while ensuring thorough cleaning.

  • Operation:
    • Ampoules/vials are loaded in bulk onto a combi tray.
    • The tray is placed into the machine, and a handlebar is lowered to automatically center the washing needles into the vial/ampoule necks.
    • Positive pressurized jets clean the interior, while external sprays handle the outer surfaces. Some models include air jets for drying.

FAQ for Multijet Vial Washer

The standard model (AAVW 340P) can achieve up to 100 vials/ampoules per minute (approximately 10,200 per hour with a 340-hole needle plate). Output depends on the needle plate used and operator efficiency. Smaller plates (e.g., 56-hole) deliver lower output of around 1,680 per hour.

The machine can wash 1 ml to 20 ml ampoules and 2 ml to 100 ml vials. It offers high flexibility with interchangeable needle plates and combi trays for different container sizes.

It performs 6 sequential washing cycles in one operation:

  1. De-Mineralized Water
  2. Purified Compressed Air
  3. De-Mineralized Water
  4. Purified Compressed Air
  5. Water for Injection (WFI)
  6. Purified Compressed Air

Both internal and external surfaces are cleaned using positive pressurized jets.
