Multijet Ampoule Washer

Description

Multijet Ampoule Washer is a semi-automatic, compact, and versatile washing machine designed for cleaning ampoules and vials in pharmaceutical settings, adhering to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) standards. It is widely used in small to medium-scale injectable production for ensuring sterility and hygiene of glass containers before filling. With its timer-operated solenoid valve system, this lab-scale small ampoule washer may observe up to six washing cycles in a single cycle. In medium-sized and small-scale injectable enterprises, multijet ampoule and vial washing machines are commonly utilized. The number of holes in combi trays, which are composed of cast nylon, varies according to the ampoules’ diameter. Different sizes of ampoules can be performed using a combination of needle plates with 53, 100, 189, 240, and 340 holes. Additionally, we have a Multijet Vial Washing Machine that is only used to clean vials.

  • Ampoules or vials are loaded manually (or via dump loading) into a combi tray.

  • The tray is placed in the machine and the handlebar is lowered to automatically center the washing needles into the container necks.

  • The transparent acrylic top cover is closed and the cycle is started.

  • The machine performs 6 sequential washes (3 water + 3 air) using filtered, pressurized jets for simultaneous internal and external cleaning.

  • After completion, the machine stops automatically with a buzzer and indicator light.

  • The cleaned containers are unloaded manually and are ready for sterilization or further processing.

Working Principle of Multijet Ampoule Washer

Ampoules are loaded in bulk onto combi tray if received in ready to dump boxes, which will have exactly same number of Ampoules and the pitch, as loading tray. Alternatively, each Ampoule/Vial has to be arranged into the tray individually. The loading tray is placed directly into the machine & the handlebar is lowered for automatic centering of washing needles into the Ampoules neck. The top cover is lowered & switch is operated for automatic sequential washing. Washing is performed from inside and outside of each individual Ampoule. Machine automatically stops after one complete washing cycle with buzzer sound and red-light indication. For removal of tray, reverse procedure is to be observed. Depending on loading & operator’s efficiency one can achieve 30 loading trays in an hour.

Multijet Ampoule and Vial Washing Machine is valued for its robust design, ease of operation (even by semi-skilled operators), and ability to deliver sterile, contaminant-free ampoules and vials, critical for pharmaceutical filling processes.

Key Features of Multijet Ampoule Washer

  • Construction: Built with stainless steel (typically 316L for contact parts) and FDA-approved materials like polycarbonate, HDPE, or PP, ensuring durability and compliance with pharmaceutical standards.

  • Capacity: Washes ampoules from 1ml to 20ml (some models up to 25ml) and glass vials from 2ml to 100ml, with interchangeable change parts for different sizes.

  • Washing Mechanism: Utilizes positive and pressurized jets through washing needles for both internal and external cleaning, minimizing washing media usage. Typically includes six washing cycles per batch, using media like DM water, distilled water, or compressed air.

  • Operation:
    • Ampoules/vials are loaded onto combi trays either manually or from ready-to-dump boxes.
    • Trays are placed in the machine, and a handlebar aligns washing needles with container necks for precise cleaning.
    • Sequential washing is controlled by a motorized cam-operated valve system, with optional timer-operated solenoid valves or microprocessor-controlled sequences.
    • An acrylic top cover allows visibility during operation, and the machine stops automatically after a cycle with a buzzer and red-light indication.

  • Control System: Features PLC-based HMI touch screen panels for user-friendly operation and customizable washing cycles.

  • Additional Features:
    • Pressure tank design for continuous and reverse supply of washing media.
    • Online polycarbonate housing with 5 or 10-micron PP filter cartridges for optimal water filtration.
    • Capable of processing up to 30 trays per hour, depending on operator efficiency (approximately 3,000 to 12,000 ampoules/vials per hour).

  • Applications: Ideal for R&D, pilot-scale production, and medium to small-scale injectable manufacturing in pharmaceutical, veterinary, and biotech industries.

FAQ for Multijet Ampoule Washer

The machine handles 1ml to 20ml glass ampoules (and 2ml to 100ml vials with interchangeable change parts). It supports quick changeover using different needle plates (such as 56, 99, 189, 240, or 340 holes) and combi trays, making it highly versatile for multi-product facilities and varying batch sizes.

Ampoules are manually loaded into a combi tray. The tray is placed in the machine, and the handlebar lowers to center the washing needles. After closing the acrylic top cover, the automatic cycle begins. It performs 6 sequential washes (3 water + 3 air) using pressurized jets:

  • 1st: De-Mineralized Water
  • 2nd: Purified Air
  • 3rd: De-Mineralized Water
  • 4th: Purified Air
  • 5th: Water for Injection (WFI)
  • 6th: Purified Air

Internal and external cleaning occur simultaneously. The machine stops automatically with a buzzer after the cycle.

The Multijet Ampoule Washer (typically Model AAVW 340P) can achieve up to 10,200 containers per hour (approximately 100–170 ampoules per minute depending on the needle plate and operator efficiency). It processes around 30 trays per hour. Output varies based on the selected needle plate and loading speed.

Utilities required:

  • Power: 0.25 HP, 220 Volts, Single Phase, 50 Hz (customizable)
  • DM Water, Water for Injection (WFI), and Compressed Air

Yes, it is fully cGMP compliant. It features SS 316/316L contact parts (or FDA-approved materials), online 5/10 micron filtration, pressure tank design, acrylic top cover with safety interlock, and polished finishes. It supports IQ/OQ documentation and optional PLC + HMI with 21 CFR Part 11 compliance.
