Cream Manufacturing Plant

Cream Manufacturing Plant

Cream Manufacturing Plant are specialized industrial facilities designed for producing semi-solid emulsion products, primarily in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and personal care industries. These plants are used to manufacture items such as ointments, creams, lotions, gels, toothpastes, shampoos, and similar high-viscosity products. They ensure high-quality output by minimizing human handling, maintaining vacuum during mixing to prevent air incorporation, and adhering to cGMP standards for hygiene and consistency.

These plants are typically automated or semi-automated, with capacities ranging from small batches (e.g., 5–20 kg) for R&D to large-scale production (up to 10,000 kg or more). They incorporate features like stainless steel construction for corrosion resistance, CIP systems for easy cleaning, and optional PLC/SCADA controls for automation.

Manufacturing Process

The process follows a three-phase approach to create stable emulsions:

  1. Preparation of Phases:
    • In the water phase vessel, heat and mix water-based ingredients at controlled temperatures.

    • In the wax phase vessel, melt oil/wax components similarly.

  2. Emulsification and Mixing:
    • Transfer both phases to the main vessel under vacuum.

    • Use high-shear homogenizers to blend at speeds up to 3,000 RPM, ensuring droplet sizes <5 microns for cream-like texture.

    • Cool the mixture while stirring to stabilize the emulsion.

  3. Homogenization and Quality Control:
    • Pass through a colloid mill to eliminate lumps.

    • Test for pH, viscosity, and microbial content.

  4. Filling and Packaging:
    • Transfer to storage vessel, then fill into containers via automated lines.

    • Seal and label; clean all equipment via CIP.

The entire process is designed for minimal vacuum drop and man-handling, reducing contamination risks. Batch times vary but typically take 2–4 hours per cycle.

Applications

  • Pharmaceuticals: Ointments, sterile/non-sterile creams, gels, and biotech products.

  • Cosmetics: Face/hand creams, moisturizers, sunscreens, hair conditioners, and body lotions.

  • Personal Care: Toothpastes, shampoos, shower gels, and hand soaps.

  • Food (Less Common): While most results focus on pharma/cosmetics, similar setups can adapt for dairy creams or jams/dressings.

Processing Options

A comprehensive range of additional features can be provided to increase the flexibility of the Mixer Each option is supplied fully integrated in to the control system of the unit with appropriate safety features.

  • Heating / cooling and insulated jackets complete with temperature control and safety equipment

  • Semi Contra Rotary agitator with open slot scraper design

  • Short loop product Re-Circulation for smaller batch sizes

  • Hydraulic lifting of manufacturing vessel top dish to facilitate product recovery

  • Separate pre – mix vessels for wax and water phase

  • Process piping with transfer panel design for automated plants

  • Leaning In place cycles with validation protocols

Salient Features of Cream Manufacturing Plant

  • The Plant is designed to be operated only by one operator and one helper.

  • All material transfers are done by vacuum or by transfer pumps.

  • All the vessels are cGMP (paint free construction).

  • The gaskets used are of silicon (food grade).

  • All contact parts are of S.S. 304 quality material (SS316 provided on demand) & finished to class 4B (Mirror) finish and are crevice free.

  • The entry of all agitators are from top & High Speed Emulsifier from bottom or In-line Emulsifier (as per customer choice).

  • All vessels are suitable for internal pressure of 1 Kg. / Sq. cm. and hence can be sterilized.

  • All pipes, pipe fittings and valves are of SS304 / SS316 (as per custom requirement) seamless quality, internally electro polished, with tri-clover ended joints.

  • The entire plant is equipped with CIP & SIP connections, so that customer can use these facility, if have CIP & SIP equipment.

  • All values of temperature & time of the plant are indicated digitally on the control panel. Ampere indicates on Ampere meters.

  • A microprocessor based automatic operating plant can be designed as per requirement.

  • All the inlet & outlet connections are provided with tri clover joints, which are very easy for cleaning & replacement.
