Cream Manufacturing Plant

Description

Cream Manufacturing Plant are specialized industrial facilities designed for producing semi-solid emulsion products, primarily in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and personal care industries. These plants are used to manufacture items such as ointments, creams, lotions, gels, toothpastes, shampoos, and similar high-viscosity products. They ensure high-quality output by minimizing human handling, maintaining vacuum during mixing to prevent air incorporation, and adhering to cGMP standards for hygiene and consistency.

These plants are typically automated or semi-automated, with capacities ranging from small batches (e.g., 5–20 kg) for R&D to large-scale production (up to 10,000 kg or more). They incorporate features like stainless steel construction for corrosion resistance, CIP systems for easy cleaning, and optional PLC/SCADA controls for automation.

Working Principle of Cream Manufacturing Plant

The process follows a three-phase approach to create stable emulsions:

  • Preparation of Phases:
    • In the water phase vessel, heat and mix water-based ingredients at controlled temperatures.
    • In the wax phase vessel, melt oil/wax components similarly.

  • Emulsification and Mixing:
    • Transfer both phases to the main vessel under vacuum.
    • Use high-shear homogenizers to blend at speeds up to 3,000 RPM, ensuring droplet sizes <5 microns for cream-like texture.
    • Cool the mixture while stirring to stabilize the emulsion.

  • Homogenization and Quality Control:
    • Pass through a colloid mill to eliminate lumps.
    • Test for pH, viscosity, and microbial content.

  • Filling and Packaging:
    • Transfer to storage vessel, then fill into containers via automated lines.
    • Seal and label; clean all equipment via CIP.

The entire process is designed for minimal vacuum drop and man-handling, reducing contamination risks. Batch times vary but typically take 2–4 hours per cycle.

FAQ for Cream Manufacturing Plant

  • Operated by just one operator and one helper.
  • cGMP-compliant (paint-free) construction with SS 304/SS 316 mirror-finish contact parts.
  • Vacuum transfer and CIP/SIP compatible with tri-clover joints.
  • Advanced agitators, high-speed emulsifiers, and semi-contra rotary scrapers.
  • Jacketed vessels for heating/cooling with digital control panel.
  • Separate pre-mix vessels for water and oil/wax phases.

The process involves preparing water-based and oil/wax phases in separate vessels, then transferring them under vacuum into the main manufacturing vessel. High-shear emulsifiers and homogenizers blend the phases to achieve fine droplet size (<5 microns). The mixture is cooled while stirring, passed through a colloid mill if needed, and transferred to storage for filling. The closed system minimizes air incorporation and contamination.

It is ideal for the Pharmaceutical, Cosmetic, Ayurvedic, Herbal, Nutraceutical, and Biotech industries. It is suitable for manufacturing medicated creams, moisturizers, gels, toothpastes, shampoos, and other high-viscosity topical or personal care products.

  • High product uniformity and stability with excellent emulsification.
  • Reduced manpower and contamination risks through automation and vacuum operation.
  • Easy cleaning and sterilization (CIP/SIP) with quick changeovers.
  • Flexible batch sizes and optional PLC/SCADA automation.
  • Compliance with regulatory standards and support for validation (IQ/OQ).
