Cream Preparation Plant

Cream Preparation Plant

A Cream Preparation Plant also known as a Cream Manufacturing Plant or Ointment Manufacturing Plant is specialized industrial equipment designed for the efficient production of creams, ointments, lotions, gels, and similar semi-solid emulsions. It is widely used in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, herbal, and food industries to ensure high-quality, homogeneous products with consistent texture, viscosity, and stability. These plants address critical factors like precise mixing, heating, and emulsification to prevent issues such as uneven distribution or separation.

Key Components

A typical cream preparation plant consists of interconnected vessels and accessories linked via pipelines for automated processing. Here’s a breakdown:

  • Water Phase Vessel: Heats water and hydrates aqueous ingredients. Temperature: 110–185°F (45–85°C).

  • Oil Phase Vessel: Melts oil-based components and disperses flake/powder ingredients.

  • Manufacturing Vessel: Blends oil and water phases to form the emulsion; includes high-shear mixers or turbines for homogenization.

  • Storage Vessel: Jacketed tank for holding finished product; features agitators and wheels for mobility.

  • Additional Accessories: Conveying pumps, pipelines, and optional homogenizers for fine particle dispersion.

Manufacturing Process

The process follows a structured emulsion formation:

  • Oil Phase Preparation: Dry-blend powders/flakes and disperse into oils; heat to melt.

  • Aqueous Phase Preparation: Heat water and dissolve/hydrate water-soluble ingredients.

  • Emulsion Formation: Combine phases in the manufacturing vessel under high-shear mixing until homogeneous.

  • Cooling and Storage: Cool the mixture while stirring to set the texture; transfer to storage for filling/packaging.

Batch capacities range from 20 kg to 2,000 kg, with options for continuous or batch operation. High-shear mixing ensures superior results compared to traditional methods, reducing processing time and improving product quality.

Applications

  • Pharmaceuticals: Ointments for rashes, infections, antiseptics, anti-fungals.

  • Cosmetics: Face creams, body lotions, sunscreens, deodorants.

  • Food Industry: Specialized variants for wafer/sSnack creams or plant-based dairy alternatives.

  • Other: Toothpastes, shampoos, agrochemicals.

Processing Options

A comprehensive range of additional features can be provided to increase the flexibility of the Mixer Each option is supplied fully integrated in to the control system of the unit with appropriate safety features.

  • Heating / cooling and insulated jackets complete with temperature control and safety equipment

  • Semi Contra Rotary agitator with open slot scraper design

  • Short loop product Re-Circulation for smaller batch sizes

  • Hydraulic lifting of manufacturing vessel top dish to facilitate product recovery

  • Separate pre – mix vessels for wax and water phase

  • Process piping with transfer panel design for automated plants

Salient Features of Cream Preparation Plant

  • The Plant is designed to be operated only by one operator and one helper.

  • All material transfers are done by vacuum or by transfer pumps.

  • All the vessels are cGMP (paint free construction).

  • The gaskets used are of silicon (food grade).

  • All contact parts are of S.S. 304 quality material (SS316 provided on demand) & finished to class 4B (Mirror) finish and are crevice free.

  • The entry of all agitators are from top & High Speed Emulsifier from bottom or In-line Emulsifier (as per customer choice).

  • All vessels are suitable for internal pressure of 1 Kg. / Sq. cm. and hence can be sterilized.

  • All pipes, pipe fittings and valves are of SS304 / SS316 (as per custom requirement) seamless quality, internally electro polished, with tri-clover ended joints.

  • The entire plant is equipped with CIP & SIP connections, so that customer can use these facility, if have CIP & SIP equipment.

  • All values of temperature & time of the plant are indicated digitally on the control panel. Ampere indicates on Ampere meters.

  • A microprocessor based automatic operating plant can be designed as per requirement.

  • All the inlet & outlet connections are provided with tri clover joints, which are very easy for cleaning & replacement.
