Small Scale Multi Mill

Description

Small Scale Multi Mill is a compact, versatile machine designed for particle size reduction, pulverization, granulation, and sieving of dry or wet materials, primarily used in pharmaceuticals, food, chemicals, and cosmetics. Tailored for R&D, pilot plants, or small production runs, it handles batch sizes typically ranging from 1 to 50 kg. The machine employs high-speed rotating blades and interchangeable screens to mill coarse materials into finer, uniform particles, enhancing flowability, dissolution, and formulation consistency. Its sieving capability ensures precise particle size distribution (PSD) for downstream processes like tableting.

Working Principle of Small Scale Multi Mill

The Small Scale Multi Mill combines impact, shear, and sieving in a single unit. Material is fed into the hopper, entering the milling chamber where high-speed blades strike and shear it against the chamber walls and screen. Smaller particles pass through the screen’s apertures, while larger ones are recirculated for further milling. This top-down process ensures a uniform PSD, controlled by blade type, rotor speed, and screen size. The cycle typically takes 5-10 minutes per batch.

Advantages of Small Scale Multi Mill

Versatility: Handles wet/dry materials, supporting milling, granulation, shredding, and sieving in one unit.

Precision: Interchangeable screens (0.2-10 mm) ensure tight PSD control, reducing segregation in blends.

Compact Design: Small footprint (e.g., 1-2 m²) fits labs or cleanrooms; mobile for flexibility.

High Throughput: Processes 10-200 kg/h for small-scale models, faster than manual sieving.

GMP Compliance: Smooth SS surfaces, easy disassembly, and optional CIP systems ensure hygiene.

Low Maintenance: Minimal heat generation, low noise (<85 dB), and durable blades reduce downtime.

Key Features of Small Scale Multi Mill

  • Hopper/Infeed: Stainless steel (SS316) funnel for loading materials, with capacities of 5-50 liters for small-scale models.

  • Milling Chamber: Cylindrical housing with 10-12 fixed or detachable blades and scraper blades to prevent clogging.

  • Rotor/Impeller: High-speed shaft driven by a motor, delivering impact, shear, and attrition forces.

  • Sieves/Screens: Interchangeable perforated screens or wire meshes for size classification, mounted around the chamber.

  • Discharge Chute: Bottom or side outlet for collecting milled/sieved product, often with a swivel mechanism for easy container alignment.

  • Drive System: Electric motor with variable frequency drive (VFD) for speed control, paired with a gearbox for stability.

  • Control Panel: Features speed adjustment, timers, and safety interlocks.

  • Frame: Compact, mobile SS or mild steel stand, often with lockable wheels.

All contact parts are GMP-compliant stainless steel for hygiene and ease of cleaning.

FAQ for Small Scale Multi Mill

Material is fed through the stainless steel hopper into the milling chamber. A high-speed rotor (750–3000 RPM) with 12 beaters (knife & impact edges) and 2 scrapper blades subjects the material to impact, shearing, cutting, and attrition forces. The processed particles pass through interchangeable perforated screens (0.5 mm to 12 mm). Oversized particles continue to be milled until they achieve the desired size. The rotor direction is reversible for optimized performance.

  • Compact GMP model with SS 304 contact parts
  • Portable design on castor wheels for easy mobility
  • Suitable for both dry and wet granulation
  • Higher output with excellent process uniformity
  • Reversible blade rotation and variable speeds
  • Easy disassembly and cleaning for quick product changeover
  • Low power consumption and minimal heat generation — perfect for lab and pilot scale use.

The standard model MM 75 offers:

  • Production Output: Up to 75 kg/hour
  • Motor: 1 HP, 1440 RPM, 3 Phase
  • Rotor Speed: 750 / 1500 / 2300 / 3000 RPM
  • Beaters: 12 knife & impact edges + 2 scrapper blades
  • Screen: 0.5 mm to 12 mm perforated screens

It is ideal for small batch sizes from 1 to 50 kg.

The machine is designed for easy cleaning and GMP compliance. All contact parts (hopper, screen, beaters, and discharge) can be quickly dismantled without tools. Mirror-polished stainless steel surfaces and the absence of dead corners minimize residue. This allows fast, thorough cleaning and supports frequent product changeovers in laboratory and pilot-scale environments.
