Bucket Conveyor

A Bucket Conveyor (also commonly known as a bucket elevator) is a mechanical system designed to transport bulk materials vertically, inclined, or horizontally using a series of buckets attached to an endless chain or belt. It is widely used in industries like agriculture, mining, food processing, and manufacturing for moving materials such as grains, powders, aggregates, fertilizers, or fragile products.

Key Components and How It Works

• Buckets: Containers (made of plastic, steel, or stainless steel) that scoop and hold the material.

• Chain or Belt: An endless loop driven by pulleys or sprockets at the top (head) and bottom (boot).

• Drive Mechanism: Typically an electric motor that powers the system.

• Loading (Boot Section): Material is fed into buckets at the bottom.

• Transportation: Buckets carry the material upward (or along the path) while remaining upright to prevent spillage.

• Discharge (Head Section): At the top, buckets tip or use centrifugal force to empty the material into a chute.

The system operates continuously, with buckets returning empty to the bottom for reloading.

Types of Bucket Conveyors

There are several main types, suited to different materials and applications:

• Centrifugal Discharge: High-speed (4-11 ft/s); uses centrifugal force to fling material out. Ideal for free-flowing, granular materials like grain.

• Continuous Discharge: Slower speed; buckets overlap for gentle handling of fragile, powdery, or sticky materials (e.g., snacks, nuts).

• Positive Discharge: Similar to centrifugal but with an extra mechanism to jolt stuck material free; best for aerated or sticky powders.

• Pendulum (Swinging) Bucket: Buckets pivot independently for complex paths (Z, C, or T shapes) and very gentle, dust-free transport; common in food industry.

• Conveyor belt is used as PVC coated canvas belt/endless rubberized belt.

• The Reduction Gear Box provides jerk less & noiseless performance for long time.
