Drive Roller Conveyor

A Drive Roller Conveyor (also known as a powered roller conveyor, live roller conveyor, chain-driven live roller (CDLR), or motorized driven roller (MDR) conveyor) is a type of material handling system that uses powered rollers to automatically move goods along a path.

Unlike gravity roller conveyors, which rely on manual pushing or slight inclines for movement, driven roller conveyors employ motors to rotate the rollers, providing controlled, consistent transport of items such as boxes, totes, cartons, pallets, or packages with flat bottoms.

Key Features and How It Works

• Components: Consists of a series of cylindrical rollers mounted on a frame, supported by legs or stands. The rollers are driven by mechanisms like chains, belts, O-rings, or internal motors.

• Drive Types:

  • Chain-Driven Live Roller (CDLR): Heavy-duty; uses chains and sprockets to connect rollers to a central motor. Ideal for heavy loads (e.g., pallets) in dirty or oily environments.

  • Belt-Driven Live Roller (BDLR): Uses belts under or around rollers for smoother, quieter operation on lighter to medium loads.

  • Motorized Driven Roller (MDR): Modern, energy-efficient version with 24V DC brushless motors built directly into individual rollers. Often zoned for zero-pressure accumulation (items don’t touch while queuing), run-on-demand (only activates when needed), and low noise/safety.

• Advantages: High capacity, fast and controlled speed, ability to handle inclines/declines, accumulation without damage, reduced manual labor, and integration with automation (e.g., sensors for sorting or merging).

• Special Self-aligning bearing ensure smooth and trouble free rotation of the Roller.

• Conveyor belt is used as PVC coated canvas belt/endless rubberized belt.

• The Reduction Gear Box provides jerk less & noiseless performance for long time.
