Sparkle Filter Press

A Sparkler Filter Press (commonly searched or referred to as “Sparkle Filter Press”) is a type of horizontal plate filter press used for solid-liquid separation and clarification of liquids in industrial processes.

It produces a highly clear (“sparkling”) filtrate by removing suspended particles, often with the aid of filter media or aids like diatomaceous earth.

Key Features and Operation

  • Design: Consists of a stainless steel shell with a bolted top cover for a pressure-tight enclosure. Inside, multiple horizontal disc-type filter plates are stacked, each with perforated screens, filter media (e.g., paper or cloth), and interlocking cups. The assembly is typically mounted on a trolley for mobility, with a pump for feeding liquid.

  • How it works: Unfiltered liquid is pumped under positive pressure into the unit. It flows downward, passing through openings on the sides of the plates. Solids are trapped on the filter media, forming a cake, while clear filtrate passes through to a central channel via interlocking cups and exits from the outlet. “Zero hold-up” models allow reverse flow or scavenging to recover nearly 100% of the liquid without retention.

  • Advantages: Enclosed design prevents leakage, evaporation, or contamination; suitable for polishing filtration to achieve sparkling clarity; easy to clean and operate.

Process Operation of  Filter Machine

The liquid is fed into the filter of the machine and it is done under positive pressure. Now, the liquid travels downwards and passes through the opening on the sides of filter plates. The filter media holds back foreign particles and enables only clear filtrate to go past the central channel. This central channel is made by interlocking pressure cups to the outlet. The filtration process continues until the cake holding capacity gets saturated or the filtrate rate gets way slower than it must be. This happens due to decreasing cake resistance.
