A Tablet Loading Machine (also known as a tablet feeder, automatic product feeding system, or brush box feeder) is a specialized component or standalone unit integrated into blister packing lines. It automatically transfers tablets or capsules from a hopper into the pre-formed blister pockets on the packaging web, ensuring precise, high-speed filling with minimal manual intervention.

  • Purpose: It accurately loads solid dosage forms (tablets, capsules, pills) into blister cavities, achieving fill rates over 99% while reducing dust, breakage, and empty pockets.

  • Common Types:
    • Universal Brush Box Feeder: The most widely used for flat or slightly curved tablets. Rotating brushes sweep tablets into grooves or directly into pockets as the blister web moves underneath.

    • Vibratory Feeders: Use vibration (linear, disk, or grooved plates) to guide tablets via channels into pockets; ideal for continuous-motion machines.

    • Tube or Combo Feeders: For intermittent machines; tablets drop through tubes into stationary pockets.

    • Dedicated Channel Feeders: Custom grooves for specific tablet shapes/sizes.

  • Integration: Often combined with a deduster (to remove excess powder) and mounted directly on the blister machine. Advanced systems include sensors for detection and rejection of defects.

Design Highlights of Blister Packaging Machine

The basic machine body made of mild steel chassis with SS 304 frames welded and bolted from a rigid frame device structure on which various modular stations are mounted in balcony design. All the drive component and extensive cabling are located behind and inside the machine the various stations of the machine are controlled by the centrally mounted spline shaft driven by Main motor. There are two servo motors for operating the Indexing and the feeding system of the machine. The Feeding is done by Product Transfer Roller (PTR) for Alu/Alu Blister accurately. The entire machine is mounted on the six height adjustable studs so that the entire area below the machine is easily sanitized. The machine will be properly guarded to ensure operator safety. The cantilevered modular stations adjustments are accessed from the front side of the machine. The format parts are very easy to mount and dismount and are achieved using minimum tools and tackles. A complete set of changeovers can be achieved in less than 30 minutes with minimum operator fatigue.
