A Zero Hold Filter Press (also known as Zero Holdup Filter Press or Sparkler Type Zero Hold Up Filter Press) is a specialized filtration device designed for efficient solid-liquid separation with minimal or zero product retention (hold-up) in the system. This ensures maximum recovery of valuable liquids and reduces waste, making it ideal for processing high-value or expensive fluids.

Key Features and Design
-
Reverse Flow Mechanism — Unlike traditional filter presses where liquid flows from top to bottom (leaving some residue), the zero hold-up model uses a bottom-to-top or reverse flow direction. Unfiltered liquid is pumped into a central channel from the bottom, passes through filter plates/cartridges, and clean filtrate exits from the top. Solids and filter cake remain retained on the plates with virtually no liquid left in the chamber or dome after filtration.
-
Horizontal Plate Design — It consists of a series of horizontal stainless steel plates (often SS 304 or SS 316 for GMP compliance) with filter media (pads or cartridges). The enclosed design contains the cake, filter aid, and solids.
-
Zero Retention — No scavenger arrangement is needed, as there’s no residual liquid between the tank and filter assembly.
-
Construction — Typically made of high-quality stainless steel, available in various sizes (e.g., 8″, 14″, 18″, 24″ plates) with varying capacities (500–3000+ liters/hour).

Process Operation of Filter Machine
The liquid is fed into the filter of the machine and it is done under positive pressure. Now, the liquid travels downwards and passes through the opening on the sides of filter plates. The filter media holds back foreign particles and enables only clear filtrate to go past the central channel. This central channel is made by interlocking pressure cups to the outlet. The filtration process continues until the cake holding capacity gets saturated or the filtrate rate gets way slower than it must be. This happens due to decreasing cake resistance.
Our meticulously designed filter press is cost-efficient. And you can bet on its efficiency – it helps save every precious drop.

- The flow rate is mentioned in terms of water with 5% activated carbon with filter media as polypropylene cloth.
- Filtration rated depends on viscosity of liquids, quality of filter pads and nature of sediments in liquid to be filtered.
