R&D Ampoule Filler , also known as a Lab Scale Ampoule Filling Machine or Pilot Ampoule Filling and Sealing Machine, is a compact, high-precision pharmaceutical machine designed for research, product development, clinical trials, and small-batch production. It automates the filling and flame sealing of glass ampoules with liquid formulations, including injectable drugs, cosmetics, veterinary medicines, agrochemicals, and other sterile solutions, ensuring accurate dosing, sterility, and contamination-free packaging.
Ideal for pharmaceutical laboratories, pilot plants, and low-volume manufacturing facilities, these machines are engineered to handle ampoules ranging from 1 ml to 25 ml, with production capacities of approximately 10 to 50 ampoules per minute. Their compact design, flexible operation, and quick changeover make them the preferred choice for formulation development, validation batches, and process optimization.
Unlike high-speed commercial ampoule filling machines that produce more than 300 ampoules per minute, R&D ampoule filling and sealing machines focus on precision, ease of operation, and process flexibility. They are typically manufactured using SS 316L stainless steel for superior corrosion resistance and feature autoclavable product-contact parts for easy sterilization. Built to meet stringent pharmaceutical regulations, these machines comply with cGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practices) and US FDA guidelines, making them suitable for sterile manufacturing environments.
Machine having hopper for storing ampoules. User has to load empty ampoules on this hopper in bulk from where ampoule deliver onto moving rack one by one. In the movement over rack ampoule reaches to the filling station where filling needles fill preset volume of liquid in ampoules. Further ampoules reached to the sealing station where two burner nozzles installed in which first one is preheating nozzle and second is sealing nozzle. Rollers provided for rotation of ampoules, so evenly heating provided on all around the ampoule neck. During rotation of ampoule with nozzle gassing, the glass of ampoule get melt. Sealing clipper installed which do up & down movement above sealing unit. During down movement clipper take off excess melt part of ampoules and drop into waste glass collection box. Duly filled and packed ampoules get collected onto delivery tray of the machine.
This process ensures a fully automated, sterile workflow suitable for R&D trials.

An R&D Ampoule Filler (also known as a Lab Scale or Pilot Ampoule Filling and Sealing Machine) is a compact, high-precision machine designed for research & development, formulation development, clinical trials, and small-batch production. It automates the filling of liquid formulations into glass ampoules and seals them using flame sealing to ensure sterility and contamination-free packaging.
The machine is suitable for 1 ml to 30 ml glass ampoules. It offers quick and easy size changeovers, making it highly flexible for different formulations during R&D and pilot-scale trials.
The Model AFS-30 delivers an output of up to 25 ampoules per minute. This makes it ideal for low-volume production, validation batches, and process optimization rather than high-speed commercial manufacturing.
It provides excellent filling accuracy of ± 1%, ensuring consistent dosing and minimal product wastage — critical for high-value pharmaceutical and biotech formulations.
Yes. It features SS 316L stainless steel product contact parts that are autoclavable/sterilizable. Optional Class 100 Laminar Air Flow, pre- & post-nitrogen flushing, and cGMP-compliant design help maintain sterility throughout the filling and sealing process.
Empty ampoules are loaded into a hopper and fed to a traveling rack. They undergo nitrogen purging (optional), precise liquid filling via needles, pre-heating, and flame sealing while rotating. A sealing clipper trims excess glass, and filled/sealed ampoules are collected on a delivery tray. The entire process is automated for consistency and sterility.
The machine requires LPG and Oxygen (O₂) for flame sealing. Pre- and post-nitrogen flushing is also available to displace air and protect oxygen-sensitive products.
It is widely used in:
Yes. Options include variable speed via frequency drive, PLC with GUI, safety guards, laminar airflow, different filling mechanisms, IQ/OQ documentation, and voltage adjustments to match local power requirements. Contact the manufacturer for specific customization needs.
