It is a robust industrial sigma blade mixer (also called a Double Z Blade Kneader) designed for intensive kneading, blending, and processing of high-viscosity materials. It is commonly applied in pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, herbal, Ayurvedic, biotech, cosmetic, and chemical industries.
Two counter-rotating, interlocking sigma-shaped (Z-shaped) blades operate at different speeds inside a trough-like mixing bowl. This creates strong shear forces, folding action, and material circulation that thoroughly mixes even challenging high-viscosity substances through bulk movement, stretching, dividing, and recombining.
The machine is available in Stainless Steel 316, Stainless Steel 304, or Mild Steel. Stainless steel versions can be finished in matt or mirror polish as required, while Mild Steel receives one coat of red oxide and two coats of epoxy paint.
Models range from ASM-50 (approx. 50 L working / 80 L gross capacity) up to ASM-3000 (approx. 3000 L working / 3800 L gross capacity), with motor options for general or heavy-duty use. Power voltage can be customized to local requirements.
Discharge can be manual via a hand-wheel operated system or automatic via hydraulic operation. Additional options include bottom valves or an extrusion screw for controlled product removal.
Yes. A jacket for heating or cooling applications can be fitted, along with mineral wool insulation and cladding. Optional systems further support temperature management for the batch.
Tangential blades rotate side-by-side (typically at a 3:2 speed ratio) and are preferred for higher-viscosity materials such as adhesives, rubber compounds, dyes, and pigments. Overlapping blades rotate at the same speed, suit lighter viscosities (e.g., creams, ointments, carbon pastes), and provide faster material interchange with less intensive kneading.
A minimum gap between the trough inner shell and blades reduces sticking. PTFE shaft sealing is provided for food-grade compatibility, and the self-wiping action of the blades further keeps material from adhering to the walls.
Optional features include a spray system, vacuum system, jacket for heating/cooling with insulation, hydraulic discharge, extrusion screw, and other customizations to suit specific process needs.
It handles extremely high viscosities where other mixers fail, delivers excellent mixing homogeneity in a short time, features a self-wiping action that minimizes sticking, and offers robust construction for long service life even under severe operating conditions.
