A Heavier Viscosity Kneader (also called a High Viscosity Kneader, Heavy Duty Sigma Kneader, or Sigma Blade Mixer) is a specialized industrial mixer built to process extremely thick, sticky, and elastic-plastic materials with viscosities often exceeding millions of centipoise. It is ideal for silicone rubber, rubber compounds, hot melt adhesives, sealants, pigments, masterbatches, chewing gum bases, and other ultra-high viscosity formulations that ordinary mixers cannot handle effectively.
It uses dual ‘Z’-shaped (sigma) kneading blades that rotate toward each other at different speeds (typically in a 3:2 ratio in the tangential design). This creates intensive bulk movement, stretching, folding, dividing, and recombining of the material, delivering thorough kneading, dispersing, and homogenizing. The finished product is discharged by tilting the container, bottom valves, or an extrusion screw.
Tangential blades (preferred for higher-viscosity materials such as adhesives, rubber compounds, and pigments) meet at the edges and usually rotate at different speeds for strong shearing and kneading. Overlapping blades rotate at the same speed, offer faster material interchange, and produce lower shear—better suited to lighter-viscosity products such as creams or pastes.
The machine is offered in Stainless Steel 316, Stainless Steel 304, or Mild Steel. Stainless steel versions can be finished in matt or mirror polish. Mild steel models receive one coat of red oxide and two coats of epoxy paint for corrosion protection.
Models range from ASM-50 (approx. 50 L working / 80 L gross capacity) to ASM-3000 (approx. 3000 L working / 3800 L gross capacity). Motors are available in general-duty and heavy-duty versions, with power adjustable to the customer’s local voltage requirements.
Discharge can be manual (hand-wheel operated) or automatic (hydraulic operated). Additional choices include tilting the container, bottom valves, an automatic valve discharge system, or a screw/extruder system for controlled or continuous product removal.
Yes. A jacket for heating or cooling can be supplied, complete with mineral wool insulation and cladding. An optional blade cooling arrangement further helps manage heat buildup and maintain process temperature.
PTFE shaft sealing provides food-grade compatibility. The minimal gap between the trough inner shell and blades reduces product sticking. Tangential Z-blades deliver uniform mixing, and optional spray or vacuum systems can be added as required.
It serves the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, herbal, Ayurvedic, biotech, cosmetic, and chemical industries—anywhere intensive mixing of high-viscosity pastes, compounds, adhesives, or elastomers is required.
Available options include a liquid spray system, vacuum system, blades cooling arrangement, screw (extrusion) system, and automatic valve discharge system. Custom heating/cooling jackets and other specialized configurations can also be provided to match specific process needs.
