Laboratory Tablet Press Machine

Description

Laboratory Tablet Press Machine (also known as a lab-scale or R&D tablet press) is a compact, precision-engineered device designed for compressing powdered or granular materials into uniform tablets. It is primarily used in pharmaceutical research and development (R&D), quality control labs, and small-batch production for testing formulations, feasibility studies, and product characterization. Unlike industrial rotary presses, lab models prioritize flexibility, ease of use, and minimal material consumption, allowing high-quality tablet samples to be produced from very small quantities of powder.

  • Filling: Powder or granules are fed into a die cavity via a hopper or mechanical feeder.

  • Compression: Upper and lower punches apply controlled force to form the tablet.

  • Ejection: The finished tablet is pushed out and collected, with scrapers preventing adhesion.

  • Monitoring: Integrated software analyzes parameters like weight, thickness, and hardness in real-time.

Working Principle of Laboratory Tablet Press Machine

Pre-compression is available to expel air trapped within the material in the die and to pre-densify the material prior to passing through the main compression rolls. This feature improves the quality of the product. Spacious compression zone with acrylic guards gives a convenient access for cleaning purpose. Lower punch scraper seals prevent material passing through the lower punch guides into cam tracks. Ejection of excess powder reduced by proper selection of adjustment cam. Suction needle provided for clear dust particles during compression Process.

FAQ for Laboratory Tablet Press Machine

The machine follows a standard compression cycle: powder or granules are fed into a die cavity via a hopper. Upper and lower punches apply controlled force (with pre-compression to expel trapped air) to form the tablet. The finished tablet is then ejected. It includes features like lower punch scrapers, suction needles for dust control, and spacious compression zones for better quality and cleaning.

  • cGMP-compliant model with motorized operation and optional hand wheel for manual setting.
  • Compact design with outside hopper, stainless steel guards on moving parts, and easy-to-remove parts for cleaning/autoclaving.
  • Suitable for round, oval, and caplet-shaped tablets.
  • Low maintenance, small footprint, and features like pre-compression for improved tablet quality.

Available in models such as TPM-8D and TPM-8DB with up to 21,000 tablets per hour output. Key specs include max compression force of 8 Tons, max tablet diameter up to 23mm, max depth of fill up to 20mm, and 2 H.P. motor. It supports ‘D’ and ‘B’ type tooling and is designed for R&D and small-scale use.

Advantages: Ideal for R&D with low material consumption, compact size for lab benches, easy operation/cleaning, cost-effectiveness, and precise control for formulation development. Applications: Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Ayurvedic, Herbal, and Nutraceutical industries for research, pilot batches, clinical trials, and small-scale solid dosage production.
