Working Principle of Linear Vial Washing Machine

Containers feed from the de-cartooning station are received on an Infeed turn table through visual inspection unit. An in feed worm inverts container to neck down position and feeds them through a specially designed indexing device. The device carries the container forward and stops. Nozzles carrier enters into the container and activities the jet of water/air. The air/water flow is deactivated after the washing cycle is over. Device indexes the vials for next wash. A separate pumping station gives the right quantum of water at the desired pressure. Washed containers are again inverted to neck upward position to collect in trays or directly feed to sterilizing tunnel.

  • Construction: Built with high-grade stainless steel for corrosion resistance, durability, and easy cleaning. The structure is vibration-free and rigid, often enclosed with safety acrylic doors for operator protection.

 

  • Feeding and Handling: Vials are loaded via an in-feed turntable or conveyor. An automatic loading mechanism orients vials mouth-down into SS wire mesh pockets or conveyor belts, minimizing manual intervention and saving manpower.

 

  • Washing Process: Equipped with 5–8 washing stations/zones, including:
    • High-pressure jets/nozzles for internal and external cleaning.
    • Interchangeable cycles: Compressed air (for drying), re-circulated or fresh DM (demineralized) water, and WFI (Water for Injection) for rinsing.
    • Typical sequence: Initial air purge, followed by water rinses (e.g., 4 water washes and 3 air washes), with nozzles entering the vial neck for complete coverage.
    • Water recycling systems for efficiency and resource conservation.

 

  • Output and Speed: Capable of processing 100–240 vials per minute, depending on the model, with flexibility for size changes via minimal format parts.

 

  • Controls and Safety: Electrically controlled via magnetic valves, PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), HMI (Human-Machine Interface), and AC drives for precise spray duration and sequence. Includes emergency stops, safety clutches for jammed vials, and smooth, noiseless operation.

 

  • Integration: Easily connects to downstream equipment like sterilizing tunnels, filling lines, or out-feed turntables for seamless production lines.

The machine can wash vials with diameters from 15mm to 35mm, covering a wide range from 2ml to 100ml vials. It is suitable for both glass and plastic vials with quick change-over using minimum change parts.

It is equipped with 4 Water Washes + 3 Air Washes (total 7 washing stations). Nozzles enter inside the vials for internal cleaning. The washing sequence is fully flexible and user-programmable, typically including DM Water, Purified Water, Water for Injection (WFI), and Compressed Air.
