The reactor facilitates the polycondensation (esterification) reaction between polyhydric alcohols (e.g., glycerol or pentaerythritol), polybasic acids (e.g., phthalic anhydride), and fatty acids/oils. This process produces water as a by-product, which must be continuously removed to drive the reversible reaction forward.
