Veterinary Powder Filling Machine For Vials

Veterinary Powder Filling Machine For Vials

Veterinary Powder Filling Machine For Vials are specialized pharmaceutical equipment designed to accurately dose sterile dry powders into glass vials under aseptic conditions. Powder Filling Machine are monoblock units that typically combine filling, rubber stoppering (bunging), and sometimes capping in a single platform to maintain sterility and efficiency. In the veterinary industry, they are used for packaging animal health products like penicillin for livestock, canine vaccines, or equine medications, where precision dosing and compliance with GMP standards are critical to ensure animal safety and regulatory approval.

While most manufacturers produce versatile machines suitable for both human and veterinary applications, some explicitly highlight veterinary use. These systems handle vial sizes from 2ml to 100ml, with output speeds ranging from 30 to 600 vials per minute (VPM), depending on the model. Key technologies include vacuum-pressure dosing for repeatability, servo-driven wheels for precision, and in-process controls (IPC) like 100% weighing to minimize waste.

Key Features of Veterinary Powder Filling Machines

  • Aseptic Design: Operates in Class 100 cleanrooms with laminar airflow (LAF) integration to prevent contamination.

  • Filling Mechanism: Vacuum-driven powder wheels with mechanical agitators to maintain uniform powder density; supports multi-dosing via change parts.

  • Safety and Compliance: Clutch systems for vial breakage prevention, tool-less adjustments, and IQ/OQ validation documentation. Meets USFDA, EU GMP, and cGMP standards.

  • Integration: Often part of a full line including vial washing, sterilization tunnels, cap sealing, and labeling.

  • Customization: Options for single/double powder wheels, servo motors, and rejection systems for under/over-filled vials.

Applications in Veterinary Medicine

Veterinary Powder Filling Machine excel in filling dry powder formulations for reconstitution before injection. Common uses include:

  • Antibiotics and Vaccines: High-speed filling for large-scale vet production, like bovine respiratory vaccines.

  • Biologics and Suspensions: Precision for settling powders in equine or poultry meds.

  • R&D and Small Batches: Compact models for testing new vet formulations.

For veterinary-specific adaptations, focus on machines with robust external vial cleaning for toxic powders and modular designs to handle varying batch sizes.

Process Operation of Veterinary Powder Filler Machine

The sterilized powder is stored in powder hopper is agitated by pair of mechanical agitators for maintaining consistency and uniform bulk density. The powder wheel having twelve ports which rotates at pre-determined speed below the powder hopper with practically no clearance. Powder wheel consist of Piston in each port and behind the powder wheel vacuum plate is provided. There is no clearance between powder wheel and vacuum plate due to back spring pressure. Precise volume of powder is sucked into the port of powder wheel during vacuum; according to the piston length different fill size can be achieved. The excess powder is doctored off by a doctor blade. Doctor blades can be adjusted from outside also without removing powder hopper. When powder wheel indexes further and remain in the port due to the vacuum till it reaches just vertically above the container. The time dose of Compressed air (Nitrogen Gas), sterilized low pressure air sequentially flushes out powder from the port of powder wheel in to the container one by one.

The filled containers are immediately separated on the conveyor by vial separator and moves further for stoppering operation.

The sterilized, siliconised, rubber stoppers stored in the vibrator bowl moves to vibratory bowl and stacked vertically in the rubber stopper chute. The container is hold firmly between pair or timing belt to pickup rubber stopper from exit end of the chute. Further container is passed between two pressing roller for tight fit fixing of rubber stoppers.
