Animal Shape Tablet Punches

Animal Shape Tablet Punches

Animal Shape Tablet Punches are specialized tooling components used in tablet compression machines (tablet presses) to manufacture pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, veterinary, confectionery, or candy tablets in the form of animals. These punches and matching dies create fun, appealing shapes like bears, lions, cats, dogs, hippos, tigers, penguins, bees, or dragons, making tablets easier to administer—especially to children or pets—or for marketing purposes in vitamins and sweets.

How They Work

In a rotary tablet press, granular material is filled into a die cavity. The upper punch (with the animal-shaped tip) descends to compress the powder, while the lower punch ejects the finished tablet. Animal shapes are “irregular” or “special” tooling, often requiring keys for alignment to ensure consistent orientation. Materials include high-grade steels (e.g., OHNS, HCHC) or tungsten carbide for durability, with options for coatings to reduce sticking.

Applications of Tablet Punches

  • Pediatric vitamins/chewables: Animal shapes encourage kids to take medicine.

  • Veterinary drugs: Shaped like bones or animals for pets.

  • Confectionery: Candy tablets (e.g., expanding sponge capsules that grow into animals in water).

  • Nutraceuticals: Fun branding for supplements.

Examples of Animal Shapes

  • Bear, cow, hippo, lion, cat

  • Tiger (e.g., with “KENZO” logo), penguin, bee, dragon

  • Custom designs like giraffes or dogs (often in bottles too)
